Today, most institutions are participating in ambitious campaigns that offer exciting career opportunities. Having a plan and being nimble can open new doors for advancement services professionals. In this interactive session, Christy and Katrina will provide strategies for crafting a career plan for the long term. It will provide insight and tools that support professional engagement, building a personal brand, and provide insight into advocating for career advancement!

Meet the Speakers:

Christy Cates is the Executive Director of Advancement Services at Caltech where she plays a central role in building a world-class advancement organizationHer areas of focus include, prospect research, prospect management, reporting, prospect analytics, talent acquisition, professional development, staff engagement and performance management. Prior to joining Caltech, Cates was responsible for developing and implementing one of the first talent management programs in the higher education advancement arena at UC Irvine. Under her leadership, the university advancement human resources team won two District VII and one national CASE award for best practices in talent management.

Katrina Onderdonk is the Director of Talent Management, Advancement and Alumni Relations at Caltech where she specializes in executive search, employee engagement, individual coaching and team building. Onderdonk has over 15 years of executive search and leadership experience in both corporate and non-profits settings. Prior to joining Caltech, she was a consultant with S. Benjamins & Co. and began her career at Banc of America Securities and Gap Inc. She is very active in the Los Angeles community having served on several nonprofit boards.
